Check out some of the best reasons to get a dog stroller:
Reasons to get a Dog Stroller
- Dog carriage makes it easier to take your dog places. Whether you’re going to the vet, or to an outdoor event like a concert or just to a restaurant your dog will have a safe and familiar place to rest. The stroller will keep your dog from getting too much sun or getting wet in the rain. It also gives your dog a nice barrier from other possibly aggressive animals.
- Taking your dog to work with you in a dog stroller will make sure that your dog has a familiar and secluded place to nap without dragging a kennel to the office. It will also make getting your dog in and out of the car a lot easier.
- In an emergency situation, pets are often so scared that they run away before a pet parent can get them into a confining kennel or carrier. A dog stroller will let you secure your pet in an emergency and make it easier to take your pet with you wherever you go.
- Dog strollers protect paws. In the summertime when it’s over 100 degrees pavement can feel like hot coals to your dog. In the winter, they have to deal with frozen slush, snow, and salt on roads and sidewalks. Putting your dog in a stroller gives them some relief from the elements and protects their feet.
- Pet strollers give older dogs or injured dogs or disabled dogs the chance to get fresh air and sunshine. If your dog has mobility problems you can use a dog stroller to give your dog a walk again. And if you want to take a break your dog can nap in the stroller.
- You can get better exercise. If your dog has trouble keeping up with you when you go walking or running you can bring a stroller with you and let your dog ride when he or she gets tired. That way you can get the exercise you want and your dog can still enjoy some outdoor time too.
Now that you know some of the benefits of having a dog stroller let’s break down some of the most popular types and models of strollers so you can find the doggie stroller that will work best for you. Doggie strollers come in a range of sizes and styles. Dog strollers for medium dogs will be much different than dog strollers for large dogs and so on.

Which dog stroller would you recommend for my labrador? He is average size...
Hi Anne,
We can recommend both the "Pet Gear Expedition Pet Stroller for Dogs and Cats" and the "DoggyRide Novel Dog Stroller". The first one can hold dogs up to 150 pounds, the latter one dogs up to 110 pounds. Both are high-quality dog strollers.
What would you recommend for a Chihuahua. He's 3.5kgs. Thank you
Hi Natalie,
Thanks for your comment and your message.
There is quite a variety of dog strollers for small dogs (find an overview here: http://amzn.to/2dmyauf).
Two of the strollers we would recommend:
Pet Gear Ultra Lite Travel Stroller, Compact, Large Wheels, Lightweight

If the dog stroller for your small dog shall have air tires, we would recommend these two dog and cat strollers:

Which stroller would you recommend for my two Jack Russell's. They are 10kgs each. We will be taking the stroller on holidays.
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
On the smaller side, we would recommend for two dogs the Pet Gear No Zip Double Dog Stroller. It holds up to 90 pounds (~40 kg).
If you rather prefer a larger dog stroller, we would recommend one of these two models:
1) Pet Gear Expedition Pet Stroller (up to 150 pounds / 68 kg)
2) DoggyRide Novel Dog Stroller (up to 110 pounds / 50 kg)
All the best,

What would you recommend for an English Bulldog?
Hi Trinity,
Thank you for your question.
For an English Bulldog, we would recommend these two strollers:
1) Pet Gear No Zip NV Pet Stroller (holds up to 70 pounds)
2) Pet Gear No Zip Double Dog Stroller (has a bit more room - holds up to 90 pounds)
Both of them are high-quality strollers for small and medium dogs and we got great feedback from our users so far for these two.
All the best,
Susan
I am close to 6ft and often wear heels. Also to make matters even worse I have short for such a tall body. I would
Love to find a doggy stroller that the handle is close to 45inches. Do u know of one?
Hi Michelle,
It is an interesting question. I think, your best bet would be the "DoggyRide Novel Dog Stroller" which has the handle about 41 inches above the ground. My second choice would be the "Booyah Large Pet Bike Trailer Dog Stroller and Jogger with Shocks" which is about 39 inches high.
I hope this was helpful for you,

I have an 10.5 year old 90 pound Bernese mountain dog with severe arthritis in all four limbs, especially hind. At home she lies down and I cannot remember the last time she sat up straight. We help her up and walk her with a Help 'Em Up harness. I would appreciate any recommendation of a stroller/cart that she could lie down safely & comfortably for a short walk & to do her business. We live in an elevator building with easily accessible ramps & can avoid all stairs. Thank you in advance for your advice.
Hi Shelley,
For the size of a Bernese mountain dog, I would recommend the DoggyRide Novel Dog Stroller. It is made for dogs up to a shoulder height of 26 inches (your Bernese is probably close to that size?). Maybe check, if the dimensions of your elevator and ramps fit the stroller's width of 30.5".
Another good option is the Pet Gear Expedition Pet Stroller, which has slightly larger cabin dimensions - though the DoggyRide stroller is more robust.
I hope that I could help you,
All the best,
Susan
Which stroller would you recommend for a yorkiepoo that is 27 lbs and is about 28 inches long?
Hi Kristina,
In this case, I would recommend either the Pet Gear Happy Trails No Zip Pet Stroller (plastic tires) or the Pet Gear No-Zip NV Pet Stroller (air tires). The air tires add comfort, but are also more expensive. I can recommend both strollers, so it is a matter of if you need the additional "features". :)
All the best,
Susan
I am looking for a replacement for the storage basket that goes underneath the Top Paw dog stroller that I have. My dog Tilly and I have put a lot of miles on the stroller but the basket is starting to show a little wear and tear. Does anybody have any ideas?
Hello!
What is the difference between the Pet Gear NV no-zip stroller and the Pet Gear Jogger stroller? Thanks!!!!
Hi Georgi,
The Pet Gear No Zip Jogger Pet Stroller has no weather cover included. Besides that, they are practically identical (there are some minor differences like you can use the Pet Gear No-Zip NV Pet Stroller with pets up to 70 lbs., while the "Jogger" edition is specified for dogs/pets up to 75 lbs). Both of them can be used with a front wheel in locked (for jogging) or swivel position.
Hope I could help you :),
All the best,
Susan
Hi, could you please recommend the highest quality, safest and most comfortable ride to be able to fit 2-45lb Boykin spaniels. My 16 year old always lays down while my 11 year old starts sitting then lays down also. We enjoy going to the park so riding comfortable on grass is a must and packed dirt hiking trails. Many thanks for your recommendations! Sincerely, Sandy G
Hi Sandy,
Wow, 16 years old - you must be taking good care! :)
If you want to take both dogs in the same stroller, I would recommend this dog stroller (it is the highest quality, safe and comfortable due to the air tires and the diameter of the wheels):
DoggyRide Novel Dog Stroller
It is made for dogs up to 110 lbs, so it should be fine for your two dogs. Regarding the size, you should check if your two guys fit (the cabin is 31.5" L x 21" W x 25.5" H), but I think they should be fine. :)
If you want to take the dogs separately, I would recommend the following dog stroller (for dogs up to 65 lbs.):
Best Choice Products 2 in 1 Pet Dog Stroller

Susan
